ARTIST STATEMENT
BIO RESUME
 
   Denise is an award winning Multi-media Fiber Artist with over 36 years of Art experience.  She is from the Sandia Mountain Range of Tijeras, New Mexico and has resided in Mesa, Arizona for 29 years. Her original photography and watercolor images are printed onto fabric, coffee filters, and heat set images. Manipulated fabric, handspun-knitted threads, handmade beads, screen prints, airbrush, fabric dyes, oils and watercolors add to the mediums used. Commission pieces include "The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation in Fiber" 2004© portraying the NFL Atlanta Falcons, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and The Mountain Sky Guest Ranch in Atlanta, Georgia.  The Seattle Museum Art Restoration Department, The Jewish Foundation inclusion of Whole Cloth pieces, and the Mayo Clinic “Celebrate 20 Years of Caring in Arizona” 2007© 3 Art Panels in Fiber.  Her art is in the Shemer Museums permanent collection. Many private and public art collectors have purchased her works.

    Her Fiber and Photography art have been in many Publications and traveled internationally.  "A Single Tower" in fiber traveled for 3 years along with the publication "America: From the Heart- Quilters Remember September 11, 2001" © 2002. C&T Publication, Inc. "Moda" and "P&B Textiles" Fabric Challenge travel exhibits. Her Photography was chosen for the publication "America At The Millennium-Best Photos of the 20th Century" from The International Library of Photography and by the same publication in the year 2002 and 2003. Publication Cover Story Mayo Magazine Summer 2007 issue. Artist pictorial insert for the 2005-08 Calendar Shemer Museum, Phoenix, Arizona and the 2006/07 Calendar.
 


  Recipient of the 2002 Rudy Turk Award, presented by Arizona Designer Craftsmen from Arizona State University ASU. “Originality, excellent technique and a well-executed application” says Rudy Turk.  2007 Tohono Chul Park Museum Artist Honorable Mention Award.
